It's an accepted inconvenience and it sucks. To this day I have to frequently have restart the Pace Licensing service to open a project containing an avid plugin. I did reinstall windows multiple times and maybe by luck I installed the ikok software before pro tools. I don't recall a bsod but the problems started immediately. I freshly install pro tools 11.3.1 and set everything up. It was a tough choice and earlier than I would have normally updated my machine. Out of frustration I built a new pc and got a new interface because my previous one was firewire and worked wonderfully with a TB2 adapter. Only a reboot would get it working again. Meanwhile pro tools would function normally. Late summer 2018 I started having licensing issues with certain avid plugins when I would reopen a project. My pro tools ikok issues began on windows 7 somewhat out of the blue. Hope this helps someone like me in the future. Their site and documentation is pathetic, like it was made in 2002 and thought "great! let's never update this." I've never seen a software with such an important use-case have such horrible and hacky support. I know Pro Tools is not meant for Windows but come on if you're gonna support it at all, the least you can do is not break Windows as soon as it's installed. Ok now I'll just vent for a sec (you can stop reading here): Reboot your PC and it should boot up normally to your sign in screen. (carefully - don't accidentally delete any other drivers) manually delete the TPkd.sys file with:ĭel "C:\Windows\System32\drivers\TPkd.sys".Click "Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>Command Prompt" and login with your username/password.Boot in safe mode by holding the WIN key during the initial startup. When you reboot it will give you a BSOD and prevent you from a successful boot.įor future readers who might need to start their computer for whatever reason: This creates a file called TPkd.sys in your "C:/Windows/System32/drivers/" folder. The PT installer will automatically install an old version of the iLok license manager. Plenty of threads I looked into stated that they'd had to do a fresh Windows install. I've had to install it on several Windows machines but just ran into a major issue installing it on my new desktop. I have a PT 11 license from my college days that I've been using in tandem with my old iLok over the years. r/MixClub /r/ListenToThis /r/Music /r/RadioReddit /r/LearnMusic /r/Reasoners /r/AudioPost /r/GameAudio /r/RateMyAudio /r/StudioPorn /r/SFXLibraries Pro Tools Operating System Compatibility ChartĬomputer Optimization and Troubleshooting Guides - Mac and Windows Pro Tools product line feature set comparison As the site guidelines and their notices tell you, be sure to read the sub rules before participating Feature/Sticky Post Schedule DayĬontent Creation Station - for Evals and Self-Promotion Whether it is yours or theirs, there are no allowable exceptions or appealable circumstances.
